I can't believe I had watch three depressing movies in a roll. Personally I can not handle cruel and immoral movies, I don't get why people would actually make these films, it's just give us pressures and pessimism. However, after I finished the movie “Platoon”, my mind was like “I don't want war, I don't want war, I wish it's all over.” Therefore I got the answer, the reasons of these war movies are trying to make you hate war, and give us a warning for the future.
There weren't many heroes in this film and that's what I like about it. When I was young, I watched the Chinese war movie with my grandfather, all the communists inside were not afraid of death. They won't fall immediately once they got shot but rather zoomed in on the screen for another few seconds; or they would even gave a “speech” before they expire. On the other hand, Oliver Stone made a much more realistic movie – the pouring rain, mosquitoes and leeches, dysentery and vomiting. They complained about the war, afraid to die,and intrigue. "Somebody once wrote: 'Hell is the impossibility of reason.' That's what this place feels like. Hell."
What impressed me the most is the part where (Willem Defoe) appears from the frost and try to escape from the enemies. I expected him to escape and go on the helicopter, but I knew that's just me. My tears fall down without me noticing it. When Elias surprisingly saw Barnes (Tom Berenger
)in the forest, he smiled. Please remember this smile, it's a smile of leading you to death. I can never forget when Sgt. Elias died, he opened his arms, holding high up, as if he is questioning the god, what is the point of war? The scariest thing aren't war but the ravages of human nature.
The most undefeated enemies are our comrades. We gave our faith to the closest people next to us, we thought when we got shot they will help us stop the bleeding, call a medic; we thought when we were in front they would support us in the back.
But do they really worth to truth? When we gave our faith to the others, is the same when we gave them our rights to hurt ourselves. The real hell, is not an enemies that came to us, but those who were on the same side as we. What hurts us the most often are the people who we think shouldn't be defensive.
He will never expect what brought him to the heaven was a M16, rather than an AK47.
